INAUGURATION OF RIVES DE L'ORNE

The Rives de l'Orne project was officially inaugurated on May 14, 2013. This new district of Caen is characterized by a strong mix of uses that includes retail, offices, leisure facilities, a hotel and residential developments. It is a real urban area within the city. The overall design gives a strong identity to the place while still striving to establish a synergy with the town center and the river landscape. The architectural style sticks to the rhythmic and dynamic identity of the district using glass as the chosen construction material and a resolutely contemporary expression, especially with the use of stone from Caen, whose quarries have been put back into production.

The projects takes account of its role as a cornerstone and driver of the future development of the river banks as well as its key urban position where the Orne meets the major axis of Rue de la Gare and Avenue du Six Juin Place, with the combined terraces and plant life providing a smooth transition between the various schemes. Light and transparency take center stage without impeding intimacy. There are ample but framed vistas. The presence of water is stylishly cultivated with ambitious perspectives. More than just a design, it gives the spirit of the place, open, generous and a relaxed family atmosphere, carried by the sea breeze.
