Inaugural Ceremony of the Villeneuve-sur-Lot Healthcare Center
The inaugural ceremony of the Villeneuve-sur-Lot Healthcare Center took place on October the 23 rd. The Villeneuve-sur-Lot Healthcare Center, regional pilot scheme, aims to pool hospital and clinical expertise in order to provide the population with a new medical facility that is versatile, welcoming and efficient. Located on the banks of the Lot, this new contemporary building is purposely understated in keeping with its rural nature and draws its architectural style from climate data and local references. The louvered façades evoke the local way of providing sun protection, as do the well-defined horizontal lines of the outer shell which are inspired by the beds of bricks on traditional façades in Villeneuve-sur-Lot. The compactness of the building enhances the surrounding landscape by maximizing green spaces and offering plentiful views of the Lot and its banks.
Arranged into four areas around a central distribution channel which links the major functions (accommodation, logistics and medical/technical areas), the parallelepiped and compact design of the project combines a reassuring scale for patients, convenient proximity of all services for staff and maximum scalability. The rooms all enjoy pleasant views and natural lighting thanks to the panoramic openings that look out onto the countryside and large patios hollowed out within this design. On the site, there is a clear separation of visitor, logistics and emergency routes and they extend throughout the hospital through the respective entrances they serve. From the entrance lobby, a single pick-up point, combined with effective and locally-inspired signage, makes it easy for patients to find their way around.
